Documented, public, incomplete. Every reason the engine gives you traces back to one of these. We do not invent quotes. We do not pretend this is his private Slack.
Timeline
2017–18
The year of $0
Publicly described building for ~a year and getting 0 users. The original sin this whole site is roasting.
2022
Still grinding
Later contrasted ShipFast's first 48h against making less across all of 2022.
2023
ShipFast
Boilerplate born from repeated setup work. Fast first-revenue story, public Maker of the Year run.
2024
CodeFast · DataFast
Stack expands: teach shipping, then measure it. Same audience, new products.
2025
TrustMRR
24h build. Verified revenue database. Then, apparently, a marketplace.
Sep 2026
Auctioned his own skin
Ran his first Hyrox (Sep 19, Turkey) and sold 10 tattoo spots on his own body as ad space — shoulder to calf — starting bids at $1,000, doubling per round. Higgsfield bought multiple spots. Stanley paid $20,000 specifically for his ass. Total raised: $112,062. He had his wife 3D-scan his body in Polycam to build an interactive map of the available real estate first. This is real. We checked twice.

Ship before you build
Marc's public pattern is to sell, launch, or show a leaderboard before the 'real' software exists. TrustMRR shipped as a headline + two buttons. ShipFast packaged existing repetition instead of a new invention.

A year of building with 0 users is the enemy
Marc has repeatedly described spending a year on a startup that got 0 users, then changing the game: ship many products fast, learn from revenue, not from imaginary roadmaps.

Distribution is the product
Launches quote existing conversations (Pieter's fake-MRR tweet). Cross-promotion across ShipFast, DataFast, TrustMRR. An audience is reused. Building in a vacuum is how you stay at $0.

Speed is a strategy
Days, not weeks. 24-hour apps. Boilerplates exist so you stop re-doing Stripe webhooks. Volume of experiments beats the perfect architecture.

Charge money like a business
Public pricing on ShipFast is hundreds of dollars, not $9/month 'to be nice'. Revenue is shown in public. Free is not a go-to-market plan.

Simplicity wins on the landing page
TrustMRR launched with one headline and two buttons. Marc later wrote: simplicity wins. If your landing page needs a novel, you don't have a sentence yet.

Portfolio of bets, not one precious idea
Dozens of public startups. Many died. A few print. Killing is not failure — it's the filter that makes ShipFast/TrustMRR possible.

Show up and build
You can't control luck. You can increase the number of times you roll the dice. Documented explicitly as a post-TrustMRR lesson.

Solve a pain you just felt
Fake MRR screenshots annoyed him, so TrustMRR existed the next morning. ShipFast existed because he was tired of wiring the same SaaS plumbing.

Revenue is the scoreboard
Public MRR. Verified Stripe. Leaderboards ranked by money, not likes. If it doesn't move revenue or learning toward revenue, it's a feature you don't get to build yet.

Don't wait for monetization to launch
TrustMRR launched without a monetization plan. Get the loop in public first. Charge after you have a pulse.

You are the ad space
When Marc needed to fund a Hyrox race, he didn't run a discount code. He auctioned tattoo slots on his own body, starting at $1,000 and doubling per bid, and raised $112,062 from six brands. The lesson isn't 'get tattoos'. It's that distribution is whatever asset you're willing to be weird with in public.
